PJ Fleck

Head Football Coach, University of Minnesota

PJ Fleck headshot

Fleck led a young and inexperienced Gopher squad in 2017, and guided them to a 5-7 record and those five wins were the most by a first-year Gopher head coach new to the program since 1954.

Off the field, Fleck and his team can often be found giving back to the community. They are frequent visitors at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital, local schools, food banks and much more.

Fleck came to Minnesota after spending four years as the head coach at Western Michigan. His playing career began at Northern Illinois where he helped lead them to a 10-2 record, ranking number 10 in the country. After college he played with the 49ers and Patriots for the 2004 and 2005 seasons before hanging up his cleats to start his coaching career. Prior to becoming a Head Coach, Fleck coached at Ohio State as a graduate assistant, Rutgers and Northern Illinois as the wide receivers Coach as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fleck and his wife, Heather, have four children, Gavin, Carter, Paisley (P.J.) and Harper.
